How Many Baby Blankets Are Enough?
Welcoming a newborn into the world is an exciting, beautiful experience filled with joy, but with it also comes a long list of questions. One of the more common questions we get asked from first time parents is - "How many baby blankets do I need?". With different types of baby blankets to choose, it can be overwhelming figuring out just how many you'll actually use. Let's break it down and give you peace of mind as you prepare for your little bundle’s arrival!
As you begin your search - you'll quickly discover all the different types of baby blankets. Receiving blankets, Swaddle blankets, Knitted baby blankets, Security blankets; just to name a few. While each one serves a different purpose, and having a variety can be useful; how many you actually need will come down to your little one's routine.
Swaddle Blankets
These are a must for newborns. Since babies often spit up or have accidents, it’s a good idea to have a few swaddles on hand. Plus, they’re ideal for both daytime naps and nighttime sleep, keeping your little one cozy and secure. Keeping their versatility and easy cleaning in mind, we suggest 3-4 swaddle blankets at a minimum.
Knitted Baby Blankets
Perfect for everyday use, you'll want a mix of baby blankets that can be used for outings, strollers or even playtime. 3 blankets are a good start. Knitted baby blankets make a great gift for newborns - so parents are likely to be gifted a few extra.
Keepsake Blankets
The perfect keepsake - you may even wish to add a special keepsake blanket to your little one's collection. Used for special outings or keepsakes, a beautifully patterned or personalised blanket will capture this special time and be cherished for decades. Depending on your use, we'd suggest 1-2 keepsake blankets.
Why you'll need more baby blankets thank you think
Between feeding, diaper changes and spit ups - babies are messy. Your blankets will need to be washed frequently. Having a good rotation of blankets ensures you always have a clean one on hand. If you live in a colder climate, you might need more heavier, knitted baby blankets for layering.
